Freedom In Grace: The Testimony of Pastor Wilson Joseph Sr.
Wilson’s journey of coming to know God first started in the Catholic Church. He grew up in a predominantly Catholic family and community in the city of Port-de-Paix, Haiti. From an early age, he attended Catholic school and was deeply involved in the traditions. He regularly attended Mass with his school and parents. He received baptism, the Eucharist, confirmation, and penance/reconciliation within the Catholic Church, which are among the Catholic Sacraments.
While the Catholic faith provided him with the initial knowledge that God existed, all the traditions in the Catholic Church didn't really give him a true knowledge of God and Jesus as his savior, because the focus was mostly about praying to Mary as an intercessor. Somehow, he knew that something was missing. Around that time, he also began wanting to attend the same church as his mom once he moved to the US, since she was Protestant. Later on in life, he realized that this was the Holy Spirit speaking to him at that time.
In 2005, God opened the doors for him to come to the United States. At last, the desire that the Holy Spirit placed in his heart back in Haiti to attend the same church as his mother became a reality when he moved in with her.
While attending the same church as his mother, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. During this time, he met his beautiful future wife, who came to visit the church. He was baptized in water, became a Sunday School teacher, and later served as the youth president.
As he grew in his understanding of God and what Jesus did for him, he gained deeper insights compared to his experiences in the Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit continued to communicate with him, this time revealing the truth he needed to live out his Christian life. However, this journey led him to face challenges within the church, where legalism dominated the teachings and traditions.
As his desire to know the truth deepened, his main goal became to study the Bible more thoroughly with the guidance of knowledgeable Bible teachers. In prayer, he asked God to direct him to an excellent Bible school. In response to his prayer, he discovered Andrew Wommack on TBN and began listening to his Gospel Truth broadcast. His spirit confirmed that this was a person whom he could listen to and learn from. Later, he found out that Andrew was going to hold a conference in Miami Beach, Florida. During that conference, he learned about Charis Bible College. In 2014, he started attending the Bible college.
While attending Charis, he learned about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Eventually, while he was at work, a strong desire to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit filled his heart. He embraced this opportunity, and Jesus baptized him, which was evidenced by his ability to speak in new tongues, along with feelings of boldness and joy.
Through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, he received a genuine revelation of God’s love for him. This profound experience inspired him to embrace his calling in the Lord. Thus, the Love Motivation ministry was born.
Through Love Motivation ministry, Wilson is following God’s vision for his life: to plant Grace-based churches, creating a space free from legalism and helping those in legalism walk free from it so they can step into God’s love and grace.
